Terms of Service

Effective July 22, 2026

These terms cover your use of mankaicrm.com and your purchase of Mankai CRM licenses, the Mankai Photography Theme, and optional Professional Setup and Migration services from me, Elijah Lemanski. Using this site or buying a license means you agree to these terms.

What you're buying

Mankai CRM and the theme are GPL-licensed software. The code that runs on your server is yours to use, inspect, and modify under the GPLv2 (or later).
An active annual license is required to use the Mankai CRM administration system (staff CRM screens). Licenses are sold and managed through Freemius.
If a CRM license expires, a seven-day grace period gives you time to renew. After that grace period, CRM administration is locked until the license is reactivated. Your stored business data is not deleted when this occurs. Public booking and client portal pages are not gated the same way.
If a Photography Theme license expires, your public website continues rendering with its existing content and layouts. Theme updates and licensed support pause until renewal. The theme requires an active Mankai CRM installation to deliver its connected features.
Activations: each license covers the number of site activations stated at purchase. Staging and development copies of the same site don't count against you; just ask if you're unsure.
Professional Setup and Migration is an optional one-time service arranged after you purchase Mankai CRM or Mankai Complete. It is requested through the contact form and invoiced after review. It is not an automatic checkout product.

Software maturity

Mankai is actively developed. It runs real businesses, and it also gets regular changes. By buying you accept that rough edges can exist and that features can change between releases.

Payments and refunds

Prices are in US dollars. License payments are processed through Freemius (and their payment partners). See the Refund Policy for current refund terms and what to check before you buy.

Acceptable use

Don't use the site or the software to break the law, infringe anyone's rights, send spam, or attack other systems. Don't resell license keys or represent the software as your own product.

Your data, your responsibility

Mankai runs on your hosting and stores your business data in your database. You're responsible for your hosting account, your backups, and your own compliance with the laws that apply to your business and your clients' data.

No warranty

The site and the software are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the maximum extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, my total liability for any claim related to the site, the software, or these terms is capped at the amount you paid me in the twelve months before the claim. I'm not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data.

Trademarks

HoneyBook, Pixieset, Studio Ninja, ShootProof, and other product names mentioned on this site are trademarks of their respective owners. Mentions don't imply affiliation or endorsement.

Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that ends up in court will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts serving Marathon County, Wisconsin, and both of us consent to that venue.

Changes

I can update these terms; the date above changes when I do. Continuing to use the site or renewing a license after a change means you accept the updated terms.
