Expenses & reporting

Income against spending, CSV exports

How can I track my photography business expenses next to my income?

Mankai, a WordPress plugin for photographers, has expense tracking on Pro: log gear, software, travel and other costs with the receipt attached, next to what you earned. You get monthly, quarterly and year-end summaries as a PDF or CSV for your accountant. It doesn’t give tax advice or connect to accounting software.

The business half of photography is knowing whether the numbers work. Mankai expense records track what the studio spends: gear, props, studio rent, software, mileage, alongside everything it earns, in the same system that runs the earning.

The picture, not just the pile

Income against expenses charts on the dashboard show the last six months at a glance. Whether the fall mini season actually made money after the pumpkin patch fees is a question with an answer now.

Ready for your accountant

CSV exports carry payments and expenses out in clean, dated, categorized rows. Tax preparation becomes an export and an email instead of a shoebox of receipts and a lost weekend.

The Money review, “In and out”: the studio kept $33,520 after expenses, 79% of the $42,320 that came in. A chart sets money in beside money out for each of the last 12 months.
An expense’s uploaded receipts: two attached, a PDF named cards-receipt.pdf and a photo named IMG_2041.jpg.
What you kept, after everything you spent. Log each expense with its receipt; the Money review sets it beside what came in.

Put it on your site.
