Chapter 14 · Emails and automation

Turn built-in emails on or off

Mankai sends emails for you, such as booking confirmations, payment reminders and gallery links, and each one has its own switch.

Here you switch the gift card email off and on again. Emails only leave your site once your mail is set up, as in Send a test email.

Step by step

Get there

  1. Press Studio in the top bar.

  2. Choose Email Templates.

Read an email

  1. The Built-in tab lists every email Mankai sends. Each row shows its name, its subject, and a switch under Enabled.

  2. To read an email, press View only beside it. Here we open Booking Confirmed.

    On Mankai Pro this button reads Edit, because Pro lets you change the wording.

  3. On the right, Sends when tells you what makes Mankai send this email.

  4. Press Close at the top left to go back to the list.

Turn one off

  1. To find an email quickly, press the magnifier at the top right, type gift, and press Enter.

  2. Press the switch beside Gift Card Balance Update to turn it off. A green note says Email turned off.

  3. Some switches cannot be turned off. Always sent means clients need that email to continue, so Mankai keeps it on.

Find it again, and turn it back on

  1. To see every email you have turned off, press Enabled at the top of that column and choose Off.

  2. Press the switch again to turn the email back on.

The emails WordPress sends

  1. Press WordPress account to see the five emails WordPress itself sends, such as a password reset. They have switches too.

You're done when

You know how to read an email, switch it off, and find it again under Enabled, then Off. With Mankai Pro, you can also build your own automations under Studio, then Workflows.

If something's not right

Which emails should I turn off?

Most studios leave them all on. Turn one off only when you do not use that part of Mankai, such as the gift card emails when you sell no gift cards.

An email is on, but my client says it never arrived

Ask them to look in their spam folder, then send yourself a test as shown in Send a test email. If the test arrives, Mankai and your mail setup are working.

Can I change the words in an email?

Rewriting emails is part of Mankai Pro. On Free every email is read only, but you can still switch it on or off.

Pro Pro lets you rewrite any of these emails, change how they look, and make new ones. On Free you can read every email and switch it on or off.
