Chapter 3 · Find your way around
Put Mankai on your phone and computer Pro
Install Mankai once and it opens from your home screen or desktop like any other app, full screen and without browser bars. It takes about a minute on each device.
Your clients can install their client portal the same way. See The client portal.
Installing Mankai as an app, on a phone or on a computer, is part of Mankai Pro.
Have this ready
- Your website address and your Mankai sign-in, on the device you want to use.
Step by step
Which device are you using?
iPhone or iPad
Apple does not let a website install itself, so on an iPhone or iPad you add Mankai from the Share menu in Safari. Apple covers it in its guide to adding a website to your Home Screen.
Get there
Open Safari, go to your website and sign in. Mankai opens on its phone screen.
Set it up
Wait a few seconds. A sheet slides up with the two steps below. No sheet? The same two steps always work.
Tap Share in the Safari toolbar, scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
Open Mankai from your Home Screen.
It opens full screen on the same phone screen, with Home, Sessions, Messages, Calendar and Clients along the bottom.
You're done when
Mankai is on your Home Screen and opens full screen, with no Safari bars.
Android
In Chrome, Mankai installs in one tap. Google covers the browser side in Use web apps in Chrome.
Get there
Open Chrome, go to your website and sign in. Mankai opens on its phone screen.
Set it up
Wait a few seconds. A sheet slides up from the bottom. Tap Install, then tap Install again when Chrome asks.
Open Mankai from your home screen.
It opens full screen on the same phone screen, with Home, Sessions, Messages, Calendar and Clients along the bottom.
No sheet? Add it yourself
Tap the three dots at the top right of Chrome, then Add to home screen or Install app, then Install.
You're done when
Mankai is on your home screen and opens full screen, with no Chrome bars.
Computer with Chrome or Edge
Mankai asks in Chrome and in Edge. Google explains the browser side in Use web apps in Chrome, and Microsoft in Install, manage, or uninstall apps in Edge.
Get there
Open Chrome or Edge, go to your website and sign in. Mankai opens on Overview.
Set it up
Wait a few seconds. A card appears at the bottom right. Press Install, then press Install again when your browser asks.
Open Mankai from your Start menu, Launchpad or taskbar.
It opens in its own window, on Overview.
No card? Install it yourself
In Chrome, open the top right menu, then Cast, save, and share, then Install page as app.
In Edge, open Settings and more, then Apps, then Install this site as an app.
You're done when
Mankai has its own icon and its own window, separate from your browser tabs.
Mac with Safari
Mankai does not ask in Safari, so you add it yourself. This needs macOS Sonoma (14) or newer. Apple covers it in Use Safari web apps on Mac.
Get there
Open Safari, go to your website and sign in. Mankai opens on Overview.
Set it up
In the menu bar at the top of the screen, choose File, then Add to Dock, then press Add.
Open Mankai from the Dock.
It opens in its own window, on Overview.
You're done when
Mankai is in your Dock and opens in its own window, separate from Safari.
If something's not right
I pressed Not now, or nothing asked me
Mankai asks at most three times on each device, a week apart, and never in Firefox or in Safari on a Mac. Use the browser steps for your device above instead.
I cannot find Add to Home Screen on my iPhone
Open Mankai in Safari, not in another browser, then scroll down the list that opens when you tap Share.
Will I have to sign in every time?
No. Keep Remember Me ticked when you sign in to the app. You stay signed in for 90 days, and opening the app now and then keeps that going.
