Chapter 8 · When someone books
Message a client
Messages keeps every conversation with a client in one place, so you are not searching your inbox. You write in Mankai, the client reads it in their portal, and if they are away Mankai emails them.
This lesson sends a message to Lisa Turner, who has a headshot session coming up, and then answers her reply.
Step by step
Get there
Press Clients in the top bar, then Messages.
Write the first message
Press New message at the top of the list.
Type the client's name in the To box and press their name in the list.
Write your message, then press Send message.
The conversation opens with your message in dark bubbles on the right.
Press Waiting on Client to see every conversation where you spoke last.
What the client does
If the client is away, Mankai emails them the message with an Open conversation button.
The client signs in to their portal and presses Messages. They see your message.
They type a reply and press the round arrow button.
Back in Mankai: answer the reply
The conversation moves to Needs Reply. Press that tab, then the conversation.
Type your answer in the box at the bottom, then press the round arrow button.
Your answer joins the conversation, and it moves back to Waiting on Client.
Press Internal note to write a note only your team can read. The client never sees it.
You're done when
You have written to a client, seen what they see, and answered their reply. Next, the client portal.
If something's not right
The client did not get an email
Mankai only emails a client who is away, and about two minutes after you write. If they are reading the conversation, there is nothing to send. See Send a test email to check your email works.
Where is a message from a new inquiry?
Inquiries from your contact form appear under Needs Reply with the person's name, so you answer them from the same place.
Can I start from a client's session instead?
Yes. Press Message client at the top of any session. See Work on one session.
