Chapter 6 · Contracts, questionnaires and forms

Put an inquiry form on your website

About 12 minutes

Your inquiry form reaches your website through a shortcode, which is a short piece of text in square brackets. You paste it on a page, and the form appears there.

In this lesson you add the form to a new Contact page, try it as a visitor, and find the inquiry in Mankai.

Have this ready

Step by step

Get there

  1. Move your mouse over Studio in the top bar.

  2. Press Forms.

Copy the shortcode

  1. Press [contact_form] on the Contact Form card to copy it.

Make the page

  1. Press the Show WordPress menu button at the top right, next to the gear.

  2. Move your mouse over Pages and press Add Page.

  3. If a box called Choose a pattern opens, press the × to close it.

  4. Click Add title and type Contact.

  5. Press Enter, type /shortcode and choose Shortcode.

  6. Paste [contact_form] into the box.

  7. Press Publish at the top right, then press Publish again in the panel that opens.

  8. Press View Page to open your new page.

Send an inquiry as a visitor

  1. Look at Type of Session on the form. It lists the sessions you chose.

  2. Fill in the form as a visitor would, then press Send Message.

  3. The page shows the thank-you message you wrote.

Find it in Mankai

  1. Open Mankai again, move your mouse over Clients and press Messages.

  2. Press the new inquiry. Everything the visitor typed is there, with a box to reply below.

It also appears under To do on Overview.

You're done when

Your inquiry form is live on your Contact page, and every inquiry lands in Messages. To answer one, see Message a client.

If something's not right

My page shows [contact_form] as plain text

The text was added as a normal paragraph. Delete it, add a Shortcode block as shown above, and paste [contact_form] into that block.

I do not see my inquiry in Messages

Open Messages again and look under Needs Reply. If the page showed your thank-you message, the inquiry was sent.

Can I put the form on a page I already have?

Yes. Open that page in WordPress, add a Shortcode block and paste [contact_form] into it.
