Chapter 6 · Contracts, questionnaires and forms

Make your contract

About 10 minutes

A contract is the agreement a client signs before your session: your terms, their details and the price. You write it once as a template, and Mankai fills in each client's name, session and fees for you.

You make it here, and in Make a session type you pick it for the session types that need it.

Step by step

Get there

  1. Move your mouse over Studio in the top bar.

  2. Press Document Templates.

Start a blank document

  1. Press New template at the top right.

  2. Press Start from scratch.

  3. Type a name in Template title, such as Northlight Portrait Session Agreement.

  4. Open Category and choose Contract.

Write the agreement

  1. Click on the page and type the first words of your agreement.

  2. Press Tags at the top of the left panel.

  3. Press {{studio_name}}. It lands on the page where your cursor was.

    A tag is a gap that Mankai fills in later. When a client signs, {{studio_name}} becomes your studio name.

  4. Click at the end of the line and keep typing.

  5. Press {{client_name}} in the same way.

  6. Write the rest of your terms, and press a tag wherever a client or session detail belongs.

    This example also uses {{session_type}}, {{session_date}}, {{session_time}}, {{total}} and {{deposit}}.

  7. Click a section title, then choose Heading 2 in the Paragraph menu. Do this for each title.

Save it

  1. Press Save template at the top right, then press Close at the top left.

  2. Look at the Documents list. Your agreement is there with a Contract label.

You're done when

Northlight Portrait Session Agreement is on the Documents list with a Contract label. Next, make a questionnaire for the same session.

If something's not right

My template shows {{client_name}} instead of a name

That is how a template looks while you write it. Each tag turns into the real details when a client reads and signs the contract.

Can I change the agreement later?

Yes. Press Edit beside it on Documents, change the text and press Save template. Contracts clients have already signed keep the words they signed.

Can I use the agreement from the pictures?

It is a simple example. Change it to match your own policies, and ask a lawyer to check it before you rely on it.
