Chapter 9 · Galleries
Protect your photos
A watermark is your name faintly across each photo, so clients can look but not keep proofs. It comes off when you deliver the finished photos.
You set your watermark once, and every gallery uses it.
Have this ready
- Your watermark as a PNG with a transparent background, such as your studio name in white.
Step by step
Get there
At the top right, press the gear for Settings.
Press Gallery in the list on the left.
Press Image protection.
Add your watermark
Press Choose image under Watermark.
In the window that opens, press Upload files.
Press Select Files and pick your PNG.
Press Use this image at the bottom right.
Click where the watermark should sit on the photo.
Center is the hardest one to crop out. Tiled repeats the mark across the whole photo.
Drag Opacity and Size until the mark is easy to see without covering faces.
Turn on copy protection
Check that Block right-click and dragging and Block saving shortcuts are on.
No website can stop a screenshot. These settings stop the easy ways of saving a photo.
Press Save settings at the top right.
Check it on one gallery
Press Galleries in the top bar, then press the gallery you want to check.
Press Gallery on the left.
Make sure Watermark images and Download protection are on. Press Save if you changed one.
Press Preview at the top right. Your client's view opens in a new tab.
Press Open gallery. Your watermark is on every photo, just as your client sees it.
You're done when
Your watermark shows on every photo in the preview. Next, publish the gallery and see what your client sees.
If something's not right
The watermark is too strong, or too faint
Go back to Image protection and change Opacity or Size. The preview on that page updates as you drag, and photos already in galleries follow in the background.
Do I need a watermark at all?
It is optional. Turn Watermark images off for one gallery under Gallery on its left side. Then your client sees the photos without a mark.
