Chapter 2 · The setup wizard

Your studio: name, email and timezone

This screen tells Mankai who you are. Your studio name and email go on your invoices, contracts, emails and booking page. The timezone keeps booking times and reminders right all year.

Have this ready

  • The studio name you want clients to see.
  • An email address you check every day. Clients will reply to it.

Step by step

Get there

  1. On the welcome screen, press Get started.

  2. Your studio is marked in the list on the left.

Set it up

  1. Check Studio name. Mankai fills it in from your site title. Northlight uses Northlight Photography.

  2. Type the address clients should write to in Email clients see. Northlight uses hello@northlight.test.

    Use an address on your own website domain if you have one. It is printed on invoices and contracts.

  3. Press Send a test, then read the message under the field.

    A green message means it was sent. If not, carry on; Chapter 4 sets up email. Do not press the link in the email.

  4. Open Timezone and choose your city. Northlight works in New York, so it chooses New York.

    Choose a city, not a number like UTC-5. A city follows daylight saving, so a 2:00 pm booking stays at 2:00 pm all year.

  5. Under What you'll use, switch off any tool you will not need, then press Continue.

    Print shop needs Client galleries, so switching off galleries switches off prints too. You can change both later in Settings.

You're done when

The wizard shows Your logo, and the pill says Step 3 of 8. Next: Add your logo.

If something's not right

The test email never arrives

Look in the spam folder first. If it is not there, your site cannot send reliable email yet, and nothing in the wizard depends on it. Install FluentSMTP and connect your email fixes it.

I cannot find my city in the timezone list

Choose the biggest city in your timezone, such as Chicago for Central time or London for the UK. Cities are grouped under their region.
