Chapter 12 · Clients
Import a client list
If your clients live in a spreadsheet or another booking system, you can bring them into Mankai in one go. Each person gets a client account with their name, email and phone number.
You do it with a CSV file, which is a spreadsheet saved in a simple format. Every spreadsheet program can save one.
Have this ready
- A CSV file with one row per client and the column names in the first row. Email is the only column you must have.
- Nothing to import yet? Follow along with the sample file, which has 11 clients.
Step by step
Get there
Press the gear icon in the top bar to open Settings.
Press Import at the bottom of the Settings list.
Choose your file
Press the Choose a CSV file box and pick your file.
Your file's name appears in the box. Press Preview the import.
Match the columns
Mankai lists every column in your file, with examples. It has already matched Client name and Email.
Open the Import as list beside Contact and choose Phone.
Leave Heard about us on Don’t import. Mankai has nowhere to keep it.
Import
Leave Email to new clients on Nothing, then press Import clients. Press OK when your browser asks you to confirm.
The other two choices email every client a link to set a password. Pick one only when you want them to hear from you today.
A summary shows how many clients were added. New clients: 11 means everyone came in.
Already clients, skipped counts emails that were already in Mankai, so nobody is added twice.
Check your list
Press Clients in the top bar.
New people show a blue Lead badge until their first session. Press Type to narrow the list.
Choose Leads.
Press a name, such as Megan Carter.
Her email and the phone number from your file are on her details panel.
You're done when
Your clients are in Mankai with their name, email and phone number. They show as Lead until their first session, then as Client.
If something's not right
Nothing happens when I press Preview the import
Check that the file ends in .csv and that its first row names the columns. It needs at least one client row under that.
It asks me to match a column to Email
Open the Import as list beside the column that holds the email addresses and choose Email (required).
Some clients were skipped
Already clients, skipped are emails Mankai already has. No valid email, skipped are rows with a missing or mistyped email. Fix those rows in your file and import it again; the clients already added are not doubled.
